- Understand the role and scope of the clinical educator within physiotherapy, including responsibilities, professional development opportunities, and the pathways and qualifications required to undertake this role in the UK healthcare system.
- Apply key educational principles to support student learning, including adult learning theories such as Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle, and foster reflective practice as a tool for continuous development in both students and educators.
- Develop and deliver effective, structured feedback using evidence-informed models like Pendleton’s, and utilise culturally sensitive approaches to support learners from diverse backgrounds in achieving their clinical placement goals.
- Assess clinical performance fairly and constructively using recognised tools such as the Common Placement Assessment Form (CPAF), identify students in need of support, and implement strategies to promote a safe and positive learning environment.
